With two struggling offenses taking the field on Sunday night, the SNF clash always promised to be an ugly showing.

And the primetime matchup was indeed tough to watch as neither team scored a touchdown in the first half.

At the same time, the players kept racking up penalties, making the game even more choppy.

As the flags kept being thrown on the field, Collinsworth, 64, couldn't help but notice how the Jets and Raiders kept the officiating crew busy.

When New York's Michael Carter was called for a chop block foul early in the third, the sportscaster joked the officials would eventually suffer an elbow injury considering how many hand signals they'd already made.

"The refs are going to need Tommy John surgery after this one."

Tommy John surgery is a procedure on the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), needed to restore optimal function for repetitive elbow movements.

And SNF viewers loved the clever one-liner.
