First-ever Chick-fil-A restaurant closing its doors

ATLANTA, Ga. (WTVC) — The first Chick-fil-A restaurant to ever open appears to be shutting its doors for good.

WSB-TV reports signs posted at the location in Atlanta's Greenbriar Mall said it will close this week.

The Greenbriar Chick-fil-A has served southwest Atlanta since 1967.

Truett Cathy and his brother Samuel invented their chicken sandwich at the Dwarf House in 1946. However, the Greenbriar Mall was the first Chick-fil-A-specific restaurant, according to the company’s website.

The first free-standing restaurant outside a mall started in 1986.

Chick-fil-A said they'll be serving their last meal at the Atlanta mall location on Saturday, May 20.
