If approved, your Intermountain Gas bill would increase by $10 a month

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Idaho residents are well aware of the pain at the pump.

Now gas prices could be hitting closer to home.

Intermountain Gas Company on Tuesday said it's filed a purchased gas cost adjustment with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to increase its prices by about 25 percent or $67 million.

"Over the last several months, natural gas prices have climbed not only across the country, but also across the globe," Intermountain said in a news release. "A rebound in demand, lower than average storage levels, high levels of liquified natural gas exports and other global events have combined to create strong upward pressure on prices."

If approved, a typical residential customer would see an increase of $10.55, or 24.1 percent, per month based on average weather and usage. Commercial customers, on average, would see an increase of $51.87, or 27 percent, per month.

The utility company encourages customers to use its level pay program that helps event out monthly payments. If approved, the increase would be effective Aug. 1.
