American golfer John Daly is being slammed on social media after an X account Tour Golf said that he allegedly commented on transgender player Hailey Davidson winning a tournament in Florida. The 30-year-old won the NXXT Women's Classic at Mission Inn Resort and Club near Orlando on Saturday. The Scotland-born golfer wants to become the first transgender woman to earn a Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tour card.
Soon after Davidson's victory, Daly's alleged comments went viral on X, platform formerly known as Twitter. According to Tour Golf, a golf account, the 57-year-old said: “I would’ve won 100 tournaments if I threw on a skirt and called myself a tranny. That dude is as feminine as a Ford F-150.”
Daly has not confirmed if he actually made those comments. Now, he is getting slammed on X.
"who else had John Daly is a MAGA bigot on their 1998 bingo card?" a social media user said.
"John Daly is an embarrassment," another one added.
Some people also praised Daly, saying 'men cannot participate in women's sports'.
"I always liked John Daly, now I like him even more...," one person tweeted.
" love John Daly! You can sit down with him for a beer 🍺 and he will call a spade a spade!! You are 100% correct Sir👊👊👊," another one added.
"John Daly is a truth speaker👍👍🤘🤘" a third person said on X.
Daly has not posted about Hailey Davidson's win on his social media nor any other publication has reported his alleged comments.
