In total, the Black McDonald's Operators Association is giving out 2,500 turkeys.

"I think it's great for them to give out those turkeys today," said James Bozek, an Army veteran.

"People need it all over. Veterans and everybody need turkeys and food. It's a great time and I'm just thankful they did it."

This is the popular fast food chain's 23rd year providing food to those in need.

NEW AT MCDONALD'S

Diners can get a sweet new treat at McDonald's since Krispy Kreme launched pop-up shops in select locations.

McDonald's started offering Krispy Kreme doughnuts at nine locations around Louisville, Kentucky, last year.

At those locations, customers had three doughnut options - the classic glazed doughnut, a chocolate iced doughnut with sprinkles, or a chocolate iced doughnut with the signature Kreme filling.

Outgoing Krispy Kreme CEO Mike Tattersfield said the two restaurants are looking to expand the partnership to new locations during a recent earnings call.

"We are also excited about our continued partnership with McDonald’s, which we believe has validated the attractiveness of the quick-service restaurant channel," Tattersfield said.

"While nothing has been finalized, we are in advanced discussions about expanding the partnership and are making investments in the U.S. that reflect our confidence in further scaling our Delivered Fresh Daily network."

It has since expanded to 160 McDonald's restaurants across the country.
