Miley Cyrus is not one to wait around when it comes to her haircuts. Why stay put with her current cut, when she can remix it again, and again…and again? Honestly, we're here for how fearlessly she switches things up and leaps onto trends early.
Yep, she was one of the first celebs we saw rocking the shag haircut, back when we were all still mildly alarmed by the renegade chop in 2019. Since then, it's gone mainstream, with softer renditions making it the cool-girl cut we can all dip into by dialling the choppiness of it up or down.
Miley had already moved on though. She dived headfirst (quite literally) into an even more radical cut, the mullet, which paid homage to her dad's famous ‘80s hairdo (adorbs). Since then, we’ve seen everyone from Barbie Ferreira to Little Mix's Leigh-Anne give the chop a go.
Then lately, as it's grown out, Miley's been rocking the wolf cut – a shaggier take on the mullet – adding her own twist, with a grungey '90s two-tone colour: her signature platinum blonde on top, and black underneath.
But, just as we were wondering what cray-cray cut she'd try next, she's surprised us all with an unexpectedly polished lob that, as it's name suggests, hits slightly longer than a bob at collarbone-length, is easy on the layers, and she's styled straight and shiny .
Obvs our country queen has kept her rebel two-tone colour, because she's not about to be “boring” and she can't forget her roots (which currently are dirty brunette, to match her under-colour).
The switch seemed to happen in the space of a few hours as Miley posted a series of shots (that we're guessing took place throughout the month), onto her Instagram. The first showed Miley with her lob-length, but paired with mussier, shaggier styling. Then a few hours later she shared a shot of her hair styled side-parted, straight and as glossy as her silky black mini dress.
We love her change in direction to keep things interesting. Now, bets on where Miley Cyrus is heading next?
