Nampa Police: Suspect in custody after shooting at officer

NAMPA, Idaho (CBS2) — The Nampa Police Department has arrested a man accused of firing at an officer.

On Wednesday afternoon, officers went to the 1900 block of 1st Street N. to serve a battery warrant on 18-year-old Jaden Martinez.

Upon arrival, police said Martinez fired at the officer and left the residence on foot. The shot did not hit the officer.

Police set up a perimeter around a field and the Nampa Police Tactical Response Team (TRT) was called to the scene. As a precaution, two nearby schools were placed in hall check during the search.

Officers later found Martinez hiding in a ravine along the field. With the help of one of the NPD K-9s, he was taken into custody without further incident.

Martinez was arrested on the battery warrant and police expect additional charges.
