MULTIPLE people are injured after a fire spread to multiple homes following reports of an explosion in a Connecticut neighborhood.
Police confirmed that two fires erupted on the same Newington street, injuring multiple people and damaging vehicles in the area.

Fire crews were called to the scene on Audubon Avenue where two structures were on fire, NBC Connecticut reported.
Police confirmed to the outlet that multiple people were taken to the hospital.
They have not confirmed exactly how many people have been injured, nor their conditions.
The outlet also reported that several vehicles and a camper sustained damage.

A nearby home also saw heat damage as a result of the blaze.
An exact cause of the fire has not been determined.
At least one fire may have been caused by an explosion, according to WFSB reporter Lezla Gooden.
Residents living nearby spoke to NBC, saying they also heard explosions.

“We were on the back side of the house," Brenda Belanger told the outlet.
"The trees were on fire. The flames were really high in the sky.
"Explosions after explosions. We heard four. One right after another."
Large, dark plumes of smoke could be seen in the area.
Crews remained on the scene and residents were urged to avoid the street.

The Newington Volunteer Fire Department was among the responding agencies.
Newington is located in Hartford County, about eight miles south of downtown Hartford.
