Springtime Chrome Is The New Way To Wear Glazed Donut Nails

We're a fickle fandom. As soon as one trend blows up, we're wondering… what's next? Glazed donut nails undeniably dominated 2022, but heading into a new season, springtime chrome is taking the aesthetic in a new direction.

Nudes and pale pinks remain a classic, but for a spring remix, we've started to see our favourite pastels re-emerge, only this time they've been updated with everyone's favourite chrome top coat.

Pretty shades of lilac, pale blue, pistachio green and lemon sorbet are firmly back on the agenda as we head into spring, but the high-shine glazed finish is helping to keep it feel current and cute.

Case in point is Mel from @overglowedit who coined the “springtime chrome” movement. She uploaded a picture of the dreamiest baby blue mani, finished off with a glossy metallic topper – and people didn't need convincing. In the comments followers were sold. “Omg they are so perfect 😍😍😍😍,” one user wrote. “Ok saved for my next nail apt😍” wrote another.

But, before Mel gave it a name, we'd steadily started spotting various chrome pastels in a whole spectrum of shades cropping up across our socials. Earlier this month, Zola Ganzorigt, the nail artist behind Hailey Bieber's glazed donut nails, created a brighter lemon sherbet rendition for the model to manifest sunshine and bring the mood for the new season.

Another of our favourite spots is a pistachio creation by Polished by Lauren, which also hits on another huge trend for spring: green nails

And we've even seen an offshoot of the trend – pastel chrome Frenchies (see Arfi Nails lavender creation below).
