WORKERS at a Tesla gigafactory were told to take cover after cops received reports of an active shooter.
Video footage shared online showed employees fleeing from the plant in Austin, Texas early on Friday morning.

Workers reportedly received an email, claiming that there was an “active attacker," according to the ABC affiliate KVUE.
Staffers were urged to take cover, but have since returned to work.
Dramatic footage shared online showed a cop car with its lights flashing charging up to the Tesla factory.
A producer for the NBC Austin affiliate KXAN revealed that cops in Travis County were called to the factory after receiving reports of an active shooter.

Sheriffs said that the building was evacuated while they searched the scene.
But, cops have confirmed to the outlet that no shots were fired and there was no active shooter.
A spokesperson for Travis County Sheriff's Office told KVUE: “In the process of clearing the building, not hearing any gunshots, no casualties, nothing to substantiate a shooter at this time."
The factory, which is known as Giga Texas, spans 2,500 acres and more than 12,000 employees work at the hub.

Tesla expanded its workforce from just 3,523 temporary and permanent staffers in 2021.
The plant is also the manufacturing home of the Tesla Model Y car in the US.
The Model Y was the world's best-selling car in the first quarter of this year, according to the automotive website Motor1.
The manufacturing hub is expected to be the base for the Tesla Cybertruck and the Tesla Semi.
